Email notifications
Configure which transactional emails ADO Pilot sends — review completion, credit alerts, plan changes, and the weekly digest.
Last updated
Choose which emails ADO Pilot sends to your organization by toggling four preferences on the Notifications settings page. The defaults are tuned so you hear about anything that affects review credits (RCs) or billing without being paged on routine activity.
Who can change these settings
Only users with the org-admin role can read or modify the email preferences. The dashboard hides the save action for non-admins, and the API rejects writes from member or viewer roles.
The four email toggles
The Email Notifications card lists four preferences. Each is an independent toggle.
| Label | Default | Subtitle (shown under the label) |
|---|---|---|
| Review completed | On | Get notified when a PR review finishes. |
| Credit low | On | Alert when credit usage exceeds 80% of your plan. |
| Plan changes | On | Notifications about plan renewals, upgrades, and billing events. |
| Weekly digest | Off | Summary of review activity sent every Monday. |
Review completed
Fires when a pull request review reaches a terminal verdict — PASS, ADVISORY, or FAIL. One email per review, sent after the status check has been posted back to Azure DevOps.
Credit low
Fires the first time your organization's RC consumption crosses 80% of the plan's included credits in the current billing period. The alert does not repeat while you remain in the 80–100% range — you will only hear about credit pressure again once you cross 100% (which surfaces as Credit exhausted behavior in your billing summary; see Overage behavior).
Plan changes
Covers Stripe subscription lifecycle events — successful renewals, upgrades, downgrades, payment failures, and cancellations. Use this toggle to keep the billing owner informed without subscribing them to per-review noise.
Weekly digest
Off by default. When the feature ships, this toggle will enable a weekly summary of review activity — review counts, RCs consumed, and findings broken out by severity. The toggle is wired up today; delivery is not.
Saving your preferences
- Open Settings then Notifications in the dashboard.
- Toggle each preference to the value you want.
- Click Save preferences.
- Wait for the Saved confirmation to appear next to the button.
If the save fails, an inline error appears with the cause (typically a network blip or a session that expired mid-edit). Toggling again and re-saving recovers.
What you cannot disable
There is no master "all email off" switch. Critical account messages — password resets, security notifications, and Marketplace billing receipts from Stripe — are transactional and always send, even with every toggle off.
